We Paint Paneling
Court-Hampton Painting Inc. gets this question all the time and the answer is yes we paint paneling!
A phone call comes to our painting company from a potential customer asking ” is it possible to paint paneling? ”
Most customers want to paint the paneling in their home before selling it to increase the value of their house or just to enjoy the basement.
Not only is it technically possible to paint paneling but it will brighten it up and make it look fresh, here is how we paint paneling.
Here is how typical paneling looks in a basement in a Toronto home.
The first step is preparation, our painters give the paneling a light sand, fill holes and dust everything down. If the paneling is really dirty we will wash it down before sanding.
The next step is priming, as you can see below our painters tinted the primer used on the paneling to the exact paint colour which is Benjamin Moore Natural Linen CC-90. Our painters use Benjamin Moore Fresh Start Primer when we paint paneling.
Finally painters apply two coats of a low sheen eggshell paint ( we find this the best option as customers don’t want the paneling too shiny but still would like to wash marks off of it) keeping care to get in all the lines with a brush before rolling with a 15 mil roller sleeve or a 13 mil roller for non textured paneling.
The end result is a fresh look for your paneling whether you are painting to sell your home or just enjoying your new basement.
